A Fresh Start
Brad Pitt's recent trip to Washington, D.C. gave him a chance to bring his Make It Right foundation back into the news. This organization is working to rebuild houses for low-income residents in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, following the damage from Hurricane Katrina. The architecture is modern and the construction is geared towards sustainability. There seems to be a commitment to building more than just houses. Homeowners go through a counseling process to help them understand the financial aspects and how to use and maintain the features of the homes. There has even been a playground built, to help restore that sense of community.
